Wake County Animal Shelter Temporarily Closing

What You Need to Know

The Wake County Animal Center, located at 820 Beacon Lake Drive, will be closed temporarily from Friday, Jan. 16, to March 2 for building repairs and maintenance. During the closure, the center won’t accept new animals or offer adoptions.

Raleigh Police Department’s Animal Control services will continue, and nonprofit organizations will help care for animals during the repair period.

While the closure is expected to last about six weeks, community support remains critical. Residents are encouraged to consider adopting or fostering animals through partner agencies and the Wake County Animal Center Adoption Gallery online.
