On Friday, April 10, 2026, the Raleigh Police Department hosted its inaugural Autism Awareness event to celebrate its new partnership with Interaction Advisory Group, LLC, along with other local autism organizations in the city.
This event was designed for families and individuals with autism, with the goal of strengthening the relationship between the autism community and law enforcement.
Dozens of officers and family members gathered to enjoy hot pancakes and connect with the police officers. This partnership was made possible through the leadership of Chief Rico Boyce.
“This new partnership is a game changer for our officers, our city, and, most importantly, our community. This is the community engagement I speak of – just one of many ways we are continuing to bridge the gap with the residents of this great city.”
– Chief Rico Boyce
Attendees also had the chance to meet the RPD horses from the Mounted Unit, as well as view motorcycles and Enduro bikes, all provided by the special operations division.
