RPD Conducts High-Visibility DWI Enforcement Along Key Corridors

Over the weekend, the Raleigh Police Department’s Driving While Impaired (DWI) Unit conducted a high-visibility saturation patrol targeting key areas along New Bern Avenue – from Dawson Street to Rogers Lane – as well as areas surrounding Glenwood Avenue.

This coordinated enforcement effort focused on increasing roadway safety and reducing impaired driving through proactive policing and strong inter-agency collaboration.

As a result of the operation, officers made 204 traffic stops and issued a total of 301 charges, including:

  • 32 DWI arrests
  • 7 drug violations
  • 6 careless and reckless driving charges
  • 3 firearms seized
  • 6 open container violations
  • 37 registration violations
  • 20 Driving While License Revoked (DWLR) charges
  • 42 speeding violations

High-visibility enforcement initiatives like this are a critical component of the Raleigh Police Department’s ongoing commitment to public safety. By targeting high-traffic corridors and focusing on impaired and dangerous driving behaviors, officers are able to deter violations and hold offenders accountable.

“These efforts are about more than enforcement – they’re about prevention,” said Captain Nieters. “By maintaining a visible presence and working collaboratively, we can make a meaningful impact on the safety of our roadways.”

The Raleigh Police Department remains committed to reducing impaired driving and enhancing safety for all who live, work, and travel in the city.
