The Raleigh Police Department (RPD) marked Law Enforcement Appreciation Day 2026 by honoring its sworn officers and professional staff with a special luncheon to thank them for their continued service to the community.
Throughout the week, officers and staff gathered to enjoy a meal from Parker’s BBQ as a small token of appreciation for the dedication, professionalism, and commitment they demonstrate every day while serving the City of Raleigh.
“I feel very honored to work alongside the men and women here at the Raleigh Police Department,” said Chief Rico Boyce. “This is just a small token of my appreciation for the work that they do every day. I’m very appreciative of what they do, and I am appreciative of their dedication, professionalism in going out and protecting this community.”
The luncheon also provided an opportunity for officers to pause during their shifts, connect with colleagues, and feel recognized for the demanding work they do.
“I feel honored. I joined this profession to give back, but for the department and community to give back, it just shows that they really appreciate us,” said Officer Thompson.
Other officers echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing how meaningful the gesture was during a busy workday.
“Times like these are muchly appreciated, especially from officers who work on patrol and don’t always have the time to sit and grab food to eat,” said Officer Beshar.
Law Enforcement Appreciation Day is observed annually to recognize the service and sacrifice of law enforcement professionals across the country. RPD leadership says the department remains grateful for its team and the vital role they play in keeping Raleigh safe.
The Raleigh Police Department thanks its officers, professional staff, and community partners for their continued support and commitment to teamwork, service, and public safety.
