On Dec. 6, the Raleigh Police Department brought holiday cheer to dozens of local families during its Annual Shop with a Cop event, held at Target on Old Wake Forest Road.
The event, designed to strengthen community relationships, gave youth and their families the chance to shop for holiday gifts alongside Raleigh police officers. Participants enjoyed a festive atmosphere where they could connect with officers outside of daily routines, fostering trust and understanding in a relaxed setting.
“Shop with a Cop provides an opportunity for officers to engage with children and their families in a relaxed and enjoyable setting,” said Senior Officer J. Thompson. “The officers can unwind without the pressure of responding to urgent calls, allowing them to have meaningful conversations with the kids about school, family life, and their interests.”
Thanks to generous sponsors—including the Raleigh Police Department Foundation, AC Hotel, CPI Security, and Gunter Family McDonald’s—each family received a $200 allowance to purchase Christmas gifts for themselves and loved ones.
As the event continues to grow each year, its positive impact on the Raleigh community is clear. The Raleigh Police Department remains committed to making the holiday season brighter for local families, one shopping trip at a time.
