Youth Aviation Academy

John Chavis Memorial Park and the Heart of Carolina Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen are partnering to bring you the 2024 Youth Aviation Academy.

This free program is designed to encourage students from 4^th to 10^th grade to learn more about the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen, careers in aviation and aeronautics, and flight in the 21st century.

The curriculum includes Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), and interactive learning.

  History of Tuskegee Airmen, Career Panel, Build and Fly a Balsa Plane, Career Photo Booth, Light Breakfast Refreshments
• Oct. 12, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
  NASA Speaker, STEM Session with Hands-On Activities, Build Your Own Mars Helicopter, Imaginary Planet Craft, Light Breakfast Refreshments
• Nov. 2, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  Field Trip to RDU Airport
• Nov. 9, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
  Principles of Flight, Flight Simulator Session I, Aviation Trivia, Light Breakfast Refreshments
• Dec. 14, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
  Principles of Flight Review, Flight Simulator Session II, Drones, and Pizza Party
