Paddling Programs at City Parks

Forest Ridge Park, Lake Johnson and Lake Wheeler

The City of Raleigh has 3 different parks that offer paddling programs: Lake Wheeler, Lake Johnson, and Forest Ridge Park.

Choose kayak or standup paddleboard (SUP) instructional classes and guided tours on the water available at all three locations throughout the warmer months. Staff are trained and assessed by American Canoe Association standards to be able to teach technical skills and safety precautions.

These programs are great for a range of folks: whether you are just looking for a one-time excursion or looking to get into paddle sports and are considering purchasing your own equipment. All equipment is provided in each program. Participants should be prepared to get wet.
