Kids Share Why Parks Matter in New Video from Raleigh Parks

Raleigh Parks has released a heartwarming new video featuring local children sharing what they love about their parks.

From making new friends to improving sports skills, these kids' voices remind us of the essential role parks play in our community.

The video "Why Parks Matter" captures unscripted responses from kids enjoying Raleigh’s many parks. Highlights include a child enthusiastically describing how they found a caterpillar and another who credits tennis camps for boosting their confidence and skills. For many of these children, parks are a place to get active, connect with others, and feel happy.

“It helps me enjoy nature,” one child says, while another adds, “If I don’t come to the parks, I would just be laying at home.”

The video reinforces the importance of parks where families can gather, explore nature, and foster healthy, active lifestyles for children.

Watch the full video on our social media channels to hear more from our community’s youngest park-goers about why Raleigh’s parks are so important to them.
