The Raleigh Parks Active Adult Program is working with the Japan America Society of North Carolina to provide week-long Japanese cultural outreach programs.
Registration is required and is limited to 20 participants per session. A materials fee of $5 at each event will be collected to attend the program. Register on Reclink or in person at any Raleigh Parks facility.

This class teaches how to wrap an object using fabric to transport goods. Please bring your own water bottle and a small box. - Tea Ceremony
Monday, Sept. 16, 3 - 4 p.m., Anne Gordon Center
Participants will learn about the traditional Japanese tea ceremony and how to drink matcha. - Kiri-Gami
Tuesday, Sept. 17, 1:30 - 2:30 p.m., Five Points Center
Participants will learn to create intricate designs by cutting and folding Origami paper. - Onigiri
Tuesday, Sept. 17, 3 - 4 p.m., Five Points Center
Participants will learn how to make Japanese rice balls, ideal for picnic and bento boxes. - Chigiri-E
Wednesday. Sept. 18, 1:30 - 2:30 p.m., Walnut Terrace Center
Participants will learn to create artwork using small pieces of torn Washi paper. - Sumi-E
Wednesday. Sept. 18, 3 - 4 p.m, Walnut Terrace Center
Participants will learn drawing techniques, using the contrast of black ink.
