We’re excited to announce that the City of Raleigh’s Vehicle Fleet Services was named the number one fleet in the Nation at the Government Fleet Expo and Conference on Monday, May 22, 2023. There are 38,000 fleets nationwide.
Vehicle Fleet Services was awarded the top spot in both the large fleet category and the overall top fleet category. They earned this honor by demonstrating great leadership with staff, customers, and within the community; staying efficient and competitive; overcoming challenges; and having a vision and direction for the operation. The American Public Works Association and Government Fleet Magazine presented the award.
Vehicle Fleet Services is a Division of the Engineering Services Department. The Raleigh fleet has over 2,000 on-highway vehicles and almost 900 off-highway vehicles. In total the Division manages 4,500 assets. Currently, the City’s fleet has 360 hybrid and 52 electric vehicles, and these numbers are growing as the teams works to help Raleigh achieve goals outlines in the City’s Climate Action Plan.
