Let’s go Canes! It’s been 20 years since the Carolina Hurricanes brought the Stanley Cup home to Raleigh and we can’t wait to celebrate with Caniacs again on Saturday. As the team made its way back from its game six win in Las Vegas, City staff worked closely with the Hurricanes organization and partners to ensure Saturday’s Stanley Cup Championship Parade is safe, smooth, and fun.
Here’s a look at just a few ways the City comes together to celebrate:
Planning the route
Special Events worked with event organizers to map the parade route and finalize other event details for the big day.
Getting around downtown
Transportation teams are preparing the parade route, plus preparing the garages for you to park.
Public safety first
First responders will be downtown throughout the parade route to support crowd safety and respond quickly where needed. Raleigh Police are doing the heavy lifting on traffic flow to get fans in and out of downtown safely.
Clean and ready downtown
Solid Waste Services crews have adjusted their schedules to accommodate the parade and are ready for post-event cleanup to keep downtown clean.
Transit and travel options
GoRaleigh is working its normal schedule, which includes a bus every 15 minutes on many routes. Find a route near you and enjoy the ride! Expect heavy congestion and parking to fill up quickly, so plan ahead and consider carpooling. Check out Know Before You Go page for helpful info.
Getting the word out
And Communications is getting the word out across all @raleighgov social channels. Plus, you can text CANESPARADE to 888-777 to receive real-time updates on Saturday.
