A 107-degree heat index made for a tough week for our solid waste crews.
Crews have started their days as early as 5:30 a.m. since May to beat the heat and get work done before temperatures climb. That’s a lot of ground to cover when they are serving 128,500 households across the city every week.
Crews will be out on Saturday to finish any collections paused due to the heat.
Thank you to the staff who adjusted, worked safely, and kept Raleigh moving through the heat!
