Council Supports Duplex Village Redevelopment

City Council has approved $2.88 million in Affordable Housing Bond funds to support an affordable redevelopment project at Duplex Village, a City-owned site along New Bern Avenue. The City will partner with Blue Ridge Atlantic Development to redevelop the 3.91-acre site and deliver approximately 120 affordable rental apartments. By building near a future Bus Rapid Transit line, this project helps more Raleigh residents find safe, stable housing close to public transit, jobs, grocery stores, pharmacies, and schools.

All 120 apartments will remain affordable for at least 80 years, with rents designed for households earning less than Area Median Income (AMI). Of those homes, 35 will be reserved for residents with very low incomes (30% AMI), helping ensure that community members most at risk of housing instability can continue to call Raleigh home.

The Duplex Village project is part of the City’s ongoing effort to expand affordable housing options across Raleigh, especially for residents with the greatest need. Through these efforts, Raleigh is continuing to solve the affordable housing puzzle, one piece at a time.
