The City of Raleigh is creating more affordable housing for its residents. The Preserve at Gresham Lake, a new community with 156 quality homes, is now under construction. These homes will help residents earning up to 70% of the median income in our area and will include units affordably priced for families earning 20% of the median income. This project is an important step in making sure more residents have a safe and stable place to live.
Landon Cox with LDG Development, spoke about the importance of this, saying,
"[Building affordable] housing is hard, but problems are surmountable with the right people. And the right people are here in Raleigh."
Affordable housing is key to a strong community. It allows families to live near jobs, schools, and important services without struggling to afford rent. The Preserve at Gresham Lake will not only provide good homes but also plenty of in-unit amenities as well as a pool, a playground, fitness center, and a community room.
The first families are expected to move in by summer 2026. Through projects like this, the City is working to solve the affordable housing puzzle, one piece at a time.
