Ray Enoch

Assistant Fire Chief of the Fire Marshal

Assistant Fire Chief Ray Enoch has served in the American Fire Service for 21 years. He joined the Burlington Fire Department Explorer’s Post when he was 15 years old. He was hired in Burlington as a firefighter in 2000. He was hired as a master firefighter in Chapel Hill in 2002. He served in Chapel Hill for 15 years. He was also a member of NCTF-8 Urban Search and Rescue Team. He served as co-commander for the Honor Guard. He joined Mecklenburg County Fire Marshal’s Office in 2017 as assistant fire marshal where he also served as the lead educator for Mecklenburg County. He was hired in Carrboro as the deputy fire chief in 2018. 

Chief Enoch has an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Fire Science from Guilford Technical Community College. He also has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire, Arson, and Explosion Investigation with a minor in Fire and Safety Engineering from Eastern Kentucky University. He is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration degree from The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. He recently completed the North Carolina Chief Officers Development Program in 2019. He was also selected for the 8th cohort of the International Association of Fire Chief’s Fire Service Executive Developmental Institute in 2020.

Chief Enoch is a native of North Carolina and resides in Mebane. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, attending sporting events, and fishing.
