Application Requirements
No previous firefighting experience is required. Applicants must:
- Be 18 or older by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026
- Provide proof of a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have corrected vision of at least 20/30 in both eyes
- Hold a valid driver's license
- Meet the physical and mental demands of the position
Academy 59
This Academy is scheduled to begin in March 2027. It’s designed for applicants who already hold one of the following certifications:
- North Carolina EMT certification
- National Registry EMT certification
- Equivalent EMT certification from another state
Academy 60
This Academy is scheduled to begin in May 2027. It’s open to applicants who do not currently hold certifications. Candidates selected for Academy 60 will receive all required training as part of the academy.
