Let’s be real… it can get hot in Raleigh! Now, there’s a new way to stay cool while still enjoying the downtown area.
Our Urban Projects group recently installed more than a dozen large shade umbrellas on City Plaza to help provide some relief from the heat.
The portable shade structures offer the perfect spot to hang out with friends, eat lunch, or enjoy some of the special downtown events.
“This is downtown’s main living room” said Dhanya P. Sandeep, Urban Design Supervisor. “We host all sorts of events here. The new green shades bring a breath of fresh air to City Plaza and make it a more welcoming, comfortable, and attractive space.”
We hope these improvements, along with the free two-hour parking in five City-owned parking decks and the free Wi-Fi in the plaza, will make your visit to our downtown area even more enjoyable!
