Designing Together: An Accessible Public Art Conversation

Help shape the future of accessible public art in Raleigh!

Join Raleigh Arts and artist team Wowhaus at the Jobe House with Arts Access for an interactive community engagement event. The artists are looking for feedback as they begin developing public art for the new GoRaleigh/GoWake Access Transit Facility. 

This is an opportunity to share your ideas, experiences, and perspectives to help inspire artwork centered on universal design and accessibility. Whether you're an access transit rider, disability advocate, caregiver, or community member, your voice will help inform a welcoming and inclusive public art experience for everyone.

About the Event

Arrive early to spend time exploring the newest exhibit from Arts Access, Prism, curated by Makayla Haag. This free exhibit showcases the work of 14 talented artists from around the Triangle and beyond. This is their art, from their own “prism” or point of view. These artists, who have a disability, share works that range from portraits and landscapes to abstract pieces.

Afterwards, join Wowhaus for a community discussion about new public art for the planned GoRaleigh/GoWake Paratransit Facility. Light refreshments will be provided.

Accessibility

Parking: There is off-street parking at the Jobe House. During the week it is limited to one-hour until about 6 p.m. On weekends it is free. There is one paid parking lot across the street and another one with a block.

Accessibility: There is an accessible parking spot directly in front of the Jobe House. There is a ramp for wheelchairs, mobility devices and strollers. The gallery/exhibition is on the first floor of the building. Doorways are wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs. Large print guides are available. 

Bathroom: There is a bathroom on site. It is wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair or other mobility device with enough turn radius. The sink is also at a height to accommodate children and wheelchair users. Note: The handrails in the bathroom have not yet been installed.
