To assist in storm clean-up efforts, Raleigh Solid Waste Services is increasing the number of yard waste paper bags and stick bundles allowed for curbside pickup through Oct. 19.
The City of Raleigh was fortunate to experience only moderate damage overall. Most neighborhoods did not have significant damage, but some neighborhoods have downed limbs and trees. For the next two weeks, residents can set out up to 20 biodegradable paper bags (an increase from 15) and up to 10 properly prepared bundles of limbs (an increase from 5 bundles). When placed curbside, the debris will be serviced on regular yard waste collection days.
On Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 5 p.m. personnel will resume normal collection guidelines.
The Raleigh Yard Waste Center, located at 900 N. New Hope Road, is open and accepts natural storm debris like large limbs that don’t comply with curbside collection guidelines. Treated wood products and construction demolition debris are not accepted at the Yard Waste Center.
Staffing shortages in Solid Waste Services prevent us from making a special storm clean-up collection. The temporary limit increase helps us balance community needs with current staff resources. We appreciate the community support as we work to address the needs of those we serve.
