At its Jan. 2 meeting, the Raleigh City Council approved changes to the noise and amplified entertainment ordinances. The new ordinances will balance the needs of businesses and residents. The vote followed a thorough review and takes into account feedback from the public.
City Council also approved a Nightlife Permit at its Dec. 5 meeting. It will replace Amplified Entertainment Permits and Hospitality District Entertainment Permits. Both the Noise Ordinance and the Nightlife Permit will take effect on Feb. 3.
City staff will notify current Amplified Entertainment Permit holders of the process for obtaining a Nightlife Permit. Education sessions will be held on Jan. 24 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Dix Park Chapel.
