Crabtree Creek Trail Improvements at Raleigh Boulevard

New trail construction

The section of Crabtree Creek Trail between N. Raleigh Boulevard and Crabtree Boulevard (between mile markers 5 ¼ and 6) has experienced stream bank erosion therefore improvements are necessary. Improvements include a minor realignment of trail section within this area. The new trail alignment will align through a wooded area parallel to an existing sewer easement and rejoin the existing path east of mile marker 5½. A second section of trail west of mile marker 5 ¼, is proposed to be relocated away from the stream bank and parallel to the existing sewer. This section of Crabtree Creek Trail will be closed during construction, estimated to start in November 2022 through May 2023. A detour will be provided.

The Capital Area Greenway System was first adopted by City Council in 1976. This plan proposed a system of linear parks located primarily along rivers, streams, and creeks, and included the opportunity for an interconnected system of pedestrian trails across the region.
