The City Council adopted the Capital North Corridor Plan on July 5, 2022. The corridor plan was the result of a three-year process from 2018 to 2021. The process included five stages of public input. The result is a plan report called “The Capital North Corridor Plan: A Future of Choice”. The report provides action steps and policies that are listed in an amendment to Raleigh’s 2030 Comprehensive Plan. The amendment is called CP-2-21 “Capital North” and was also adopted on July 5, 2022.
The corridor plan and the Comprehensive Plan amendment call for major investments on Capital Boulevard between I-440 and I-540 (map). These investments will make the corridor safer and easier to use for drivers, walkers, and cyclists. Other proposals in the plan will help local businesses and neighborhoods participate in new economic activity in the corridor area. The recommendations are based on the analysis and community input that was collected during the three years of the study.
This interactive website shows the proposals from the report (online story map). These proposals are also summarized in a short handout available in English and Spanish. The Final Report Appendices are linked in the Project Information section at the bottom of this page.
