Youth Aviation Academy at the John Chavis Memorial Park

The John Chavis Memorial Park is hosting a Youth Aviation Academy program for children from fourth to ninth grade. Come and learn more about the legacy of the Tuskegee Airman careers in aviation, aeronautics, and flight in the 21st century. The program will be led by the Heart of Carolina Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., and the curriculum will include science, technology, engineering, math (STEM), and interactive learning.

Saturday, July 16, 2022, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.: Airplane SIM Day
Flight simulator, understanding flight controls, pre-flight procedures, and drone flying basics 

Saturday, Sept.17, 2022, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.: Getting Into the Cockpit
Tour of an airplane and airport FBO, plus drone flying basics 

Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.: Aviation Bootcamp
Full flight experience with hands-on drone flight, flight education, and careers in aviation

Ages: 4th through 9th grade
