Prohibited Items

Do not leave any garbage, trash or yard waste at the drop-off centers

These items can potentially contaminate the recyclable materials. Additionally, the disposal of unauthorized items adds considerable expense to the program and puts the recycling drop off center at risk of being dropped from the program. Garbage and trash may be taken to one of Wake County's Convenience Centers. Yard waste may be taken to the city's Yard Waste Center. Aluminum cans and plastic bottles (except motor oil and pesticide bottles) are banned from disposal in all NC landfills. Corrugated cardboard is subject to Wake County fines if disposed of in the Wake County landfill.
