Roadway and sidewalk projects improve Raleigh’s transportation network, creating public spaces that can be utilized by all modes of transportation.

Project Types

Capital Improvement Program (CIP): An element in the City’s long-term planning process, linking the City’s Comprehensive Plan with short-term planning for infrastructure and operations. 

Petition: The people of Raleigh can petition the City to bring non-standard streets up to the City’s standards by adding curb and gutter, pavement, and install sidewalks on neighborhood streets. 

Traffic Calming: A Raleigh neighborhood can request a traffic calming project when there is a consistent problem with speeding.

Bike and Pedestrian: Implementation of project identified in the 2016 BikeRaleigh Plan. 

Bus Rapid Transit (BRT): Implementation of new infrastructure related to the Wake Bus Rapid Transit coming to the region. 

Complete Streets: Projects that improve safety, access, mobility, and connectivity of existing streets for all users.
