Suggested Tax Rate Increase for Municipal Service Districts

At the May 17, 2022, Council meeting, a presentation was provided on tax rate increases proposed by the Downtown and Hillsborough Street Municipal Service Districts (MSD) service providers. Downtown Raleigh Alliance requested a tax rate increase from 0.044 cents per $100 of valuation to 0.0786 per $100 of valuation. Hillsborough Street Community Service Corporation requested a tax rate increase from 0.0965 cents per $100 of valuation to 0.15 per $100 pf valuation. Proposals from the service providers regarding the tax rate increases are attached. The public has an opportunity to comment on the MSD tax rate increases during the budget public hearing on Tuesday, June 7, at 7:00 p.m.
