Rental Assistance Mortgage Assistance Homeless Seeking Housing

We are here to help through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act grant.  These funds are to be used to help Raleigh residents affected by COVID-19 for help with rent payments and mortgage payments.

Several area agencies have assistance programs depending on your housing needs -- including if you are currently homeless.  

Rental Assistance

What kind of rental help is available?
Rental and utility payments paid on behalf of renter directly to landlords and utility providers

Do I qualify for rental assistance?
Raleigh residents must meet the following criteria:

  • Have had your income impacted by COVID-19
  • Behind on your rent and at risk of becoming homeless
  • Have household income at or below 50% AMI

AMI stands for Area Median Income. It is calculated and released every year by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

How do I apply for assistance?
Contact House Wake! Access Hub at 919-443-0096. An agent will gather your information to see if you are eligible for assistance. If so, you will be referred to an agency that can help. 

Mortgage Assistance

If you are behind on your mortgage payments, you may qualify for help through COVID-19 Mortgage Assistance.

What kind of mortgage help is available?
Mortgage and utility payments paid on behalf of borrower directly to mortgage and utility providers.

Do I qualify for mortgage assistance?
To qualify Raleigh residents must meet the following criteria:

  • Have had your income impacted by COVID-19
  • At risk of foreclosure
  • Have household income at or below 50% AMI

Homeless Seeking Housing

If you are homeless, you can apply for financial assistance to help you find rental housing.

What kind of help is available?
Security deposit and/or application fees, and utility payments to landlords and utility providers for moving from homelessness to a rental. 

Do I qualify?
You can qualify for assistance if you are a Raleigh resident:

  • Are currently homeless or living in a hotel
  • Whose household income is at or below 50% AMI
