South Saunders Street Sewer Replacement

This project will replace an existing sewer outfall within South Saunders Street to a new alignment outside of the roadway. Approximately 8,000 linear feet of 8 to 24-inch sewer line installed for this project. This project begins north of I-40 and continues south in an alignment offset from South Saunders and ending at Ileagnes Road.

This project is currently in the construction phase. This sewer replacement project will increase system capacity. Increased capacity will prevent sanitary sewer overflows. These overflows occur from higher wet weather flow. Prevention will protect the water quality of nearby streams.

History

Project identified as part of the 2014 Sanitary Sewer Capacity Study due to wet weather capacity shortfalls and future capacity needs. A preliminary engineering study completed in 2015. Preliminary and final design completed in Spring 2019.
