Replacement of cast iron water mains and undersized sewer mains. Affected streets include: Wade Avenue; Glenwood Avenue; Nash Drive; Fairview Road; Vance Street; Glenn Avenue; Jarvis Street; Cowper Drive; Harvey Street; Scales Street; Fillmore Street; Dale Street.

Construction

During construction there will be road closures, detours, and on-street parking will be prohibited in the project area. 

Update: May / June 2023 – Crews will complete installation of sewer main on Glenwood Ave by Friday June 2. This will require a right lane closure of southbound Glenwood Ave. Crews will begin installation of water main on Glenwood Ave Monday June 5. This will require a left lane closure of northbound Glenwood Ave. The water main replacement work will take approximately 4 weeks.

Traffic Impacts:  Raleigh Water will conduct a left lane closure of Northbound Glenwood Avenue, between Harvey Street and 1620 Glenwood Avenue, in Raleigh NC for a planned water improvement project. Lane closure will be from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM beginning on Monday, June 5. Closure is expected to last through Friday, June 30, lane closure will not impact weekend traffic, though work schedules are subject to change based on weather and other factors. Access for local traffic will remain open.

Raleigh Water will conduct a right lane closure of Southbound Glenwood Avenue, between Harvey Street and 1620 Glenwood Avenue, in Raleigh NC for a planned water improvement project. The lane closure will be from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM beginning on Monday June 5, 2023. Closure is expected to last through Friday June 9, 2023 though work schedules are subject to change based on weather and other factors. Access for local traffic will remain open.

Raleigh Water will conduct a right lane closure of Northbound Glenwood Avenue, between Harvey Street and Underwood Elementary School, in Raleigh NC for a planned sewer improvement project. The lane closure will be from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM beginning on Wednesday, May 10. Closure is expected to last until Tuesday, May 16, though work schedules are subject to change based on weather and other factors. Access for local traffic will remain open.

Raleigh Water is conducting a closure of the eastbound lane at Harvey Street and Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh NC for a planned sewer improvement project. The eastbound lane closure is from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, beginning at 9:00 AM on Monday, May 1, 2023. The eastbound lane closure is now expected to last until Friday, May 26, though work schedules are subject to change based on weather and other factors

Raleigh Water is conducting a right lane closure of Southbound Glenwood Avenue, between the 1000 Block of Glenwood Avenue and the Williamson Drive ramp to Westbound Wade Avenue, in Raleigh NC, for a planned sewer improvement project. The lane closure is from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day, Monday through Friday, beginning at 9:00 AM Monday April 17, 2023. The lane closure is expected to last through Friday, June 2, though work schedules are subject to change based on weather and other factors. Access for local residences and businesses will remain open.

History

Project design is complete and plans will be submitted for final review. Resident notification letters and e-mails were distributed in December 2021, which included project manager and contractor contact information. The project is now awarded to Moffat Pipe, Inc. Construction began in January 2022 on Vance Street in the Five Points area.
