Powell Drive Park Neighborhood Center Facility Upgrades

The project scope includes a complete interior renovation of the existing Powell Drive Park Neighborhood Center building. Improvements will include alterations to the interior layout and enhanced front entry and reception areas; new windows and doors; renovations to the restrooms including ADA improvements; new externally accessible restrooms on the playground side of the building; new HVAC system; and improved networking and security systems. Additional improvements include new lighting, acoustic improvements to the main meeting room, and new ceilings and flooring.

This project is one of three neighborhood center renovation projects funded by the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources Department (PRCR) 2014 bond referendum.

Construction

The Powell Drive Park Neighborhood Center Facility Updates' contract for construction has been approved by City Council.

The Powell Drive Park Neighborhood Center will be closed and undergoing interior renovation construction from September 2019 through Spring 2020. A portion of the Powell Drive Park parking lot will be closed for construction-related activities, but the remainder of the parking lot, including accessible parking spaces, will continue to be available for public use. All other areas of Powell Drive Park will be fully open for public use including the playground, tennis courts, picnic shelter, basketball court, and multipurpose field.

History

The current Neighborhood Center was constructed in 1973.  The building is an unstaffed facility and used for meetings, rentals, and other programs.
