Optimist Park Playground Renovation

Each year funding is earmarked for the renovation of playgrounds throughout the city, and Optimist Park has been identified as the next priority project. A group of six volunteers representing the neighborhood has volunteered to assist in the design of the playground. Stewart Design is the landscape architecture consulting firm for the project.

Complete

The new playground at Optimist Park is now open! The playground was designed with a nature theme in keeping with the forest-like character of Optimist Park Community Center. If you have a young child, make sure you try out the new "expression swings" that allow a parent and child to face each other while swinging!

Thank you to all community members who provided input during the design process, and for the many volunteers and professionals that helped with installation.

History

Optimist Park was built in 1973 and much of the existing playground equipment is original.
