The East Neuse Interceptor project will divert flow from the Neuse River drainage basin directly to the East Neuse River Pump Station. This will relieve the demands on the existing Crabtree and Walnut Creek Lift Stations. The East Neuse River Pump Station will also receive excess flows upstream of the Walnut Creek Pump Station. The combination of the East Neuse River Pump Station and the East Neuse Interceptor provide an alternative option for managing large portions of the sanitary sewer flow to the Neuse River Resource Recovery Facility should problems arise with the Walnut Creek Lift Station and associated pump stations. This project consists of the construction of a new 102 Million Gallons per Day (MGD) wastewater and wet weather pump station that will serve as the backbone to the City’s wastewater collection system in addition to accommodating wet weather flows.
