Transit, Streets, and Sidewalks

Daisy Street Sidewalk Project

We are dedicated to improving pedestrian connectivity in Raleigh.

We are installing a sidewalk along the west side of Daisy Street from Clark Avenue to the existing sidewalk near the Cup a Joe parking lot.

This project is the product of a successful City of Raleigh Sidewalk Petition. The Sidewalk Petition Program allows residents of Raleigh to petition the City to install a sidewalk along their residential street.

Design

Plans call for installation of a 5-foot wide sidewalk placed 2.5 feet from the back of curb on the west side of the street from Hillsborough Street to Clark Avenue. Adjustments to the sidewalk width and setback may be included in the final design to avoid major impacts in certain areas as needed and determined by our engineering staff.

Construction

The contractor has started to install the tree protection fence along the street. They are scheduled to start construction in late March or early April.

The Daisy Street Sidewalk Project is expected to take six to eight weeks to complete. Crews will begin work at Clark Avenue and move down the street to the existing sidewalk. The contractor will work Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

During construction, there will be some flagging operations, but no road closures are planned.
There will be no parking allowed on Daisy Street between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday while this project is underway.

We understand that construction is an inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience.
