2015 Waterlines Project 1

Improvement project will replace aging materials to meet future infrastructure capacity demand.

This project will replace approximately 13,700 linear feet of six-inch, eight-inch, and 12-inch water mains. The project will rehabilitate or replace approximately 2,000 linear feet of eight-inch gravity sewer lines. Three project areas north of Raleigh city limits are included. Area 1 focuses around the intersection of Leesville Road and O’Neal Road. Area 2 is located by the intersection of Falls of the Neuse Road and Harps Mill Road. Area 3 is located by the intersection of Millbrook Road and Six Forks Road.

Work has begun in Areas 1 & 2, work will begin in area 3 by late spring. Construction is now 70% complete. Residents will be notified at least fifteen days before construction begins in their area.

History

The current water and sewer mains in these areas are aging. Water mains slated for replacement through this project are undersized. These mains do not meet current City of Raleigh design standards. The condition of the adjacent sewer mains were also evaluated for damage. Damage found in the current system scheduled for replacement or rehabilitation as needed. This project was advertised for construction bids on Friday, May 10, 2019.  A pre-bid meeting scheduled for 2pm on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at One Exchange Plaza, Suite 620, Raleigh, NC 27601. Construction bids will be received until 2pm on Tuesday, June 11, 2019. The construction contract for this project was awarded to the lowest responsible bidder, Park Construction.
