Developing Policy
Planning and Zoning work with the community and city officials to put in place land management policies. These policies direct future growth. The goal is to create a city where the quality of life is second to none.
Planning for Growth
Raleigh is experiencing growth as people move to the area. Young people are electing to stay in the city which offers a great place to live, work and play. Growth means increased development which changes how the city looks and stresses our resources. How will the city accommodate these changes?
Preparing for Change
By planning for the future, Raleigh can respond to and prepare for these changes. Planning and Zoning conduct studies to evaluate how change is impacting the city. These studies go through a public process before they are adopted by the city council. Once adopted these studies become key to shaping future growth and development.
