StoryWalks with Raleigh Historic Sites

Join us for StoryWalks at three historic sites this month!

Borden Building - Harlem Grown by Tony Hillery
Learn about what a difference a person can make in this story about one man and students from an elementary school in Harlem, NYC who turn a vacant lot across from their school into a garden and give back to their community (based on a true story). This Storywalk will begin on May 28 and will start at the 876 Washington St. entrance to the park.

Latta University Historic Site - Juneteenth for Mazie by Floyd Cooper
Follow Mazie in this picture book by Floyd Cooper as she discovers Juneteenth's historic significance, learns about her family's past, and celebrates freedom. This Storywalk will begin on June 3.

Mordecai Historic Park - All Different Now by Angela Johnson
See June 19, 1865 through the eyes of a young girl and her family in Texas during the first celebration of freedom for Juneteenth. This Storywalk will begin on June 3.
