National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month is recognized and celebrated each year during the month of March. This month we will be highlighting our Specialized Recreation and Inclusion Services (SRIS) program. They offer a variety of programs for individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities.
Programs are designed to meet the needs and interests of the participants. SRIS provides inclusion and/or medical support to individuals with disabilities and/or medical conditions and who request modifications to participate in other Raleigh parks programs.
Raleigh Parks welcomes the participation of all individuals, including those with disabilities and/or special needs.
Check out a list of our Specialized Recreation and Inclusion Services (SRIS) programs.
Meet Our Specialized Recreation and Inclusion Services Team
Raleigh Parks has a great team dedicated to providing exceptional experiences. Meet our Specialized Recreation and Inclusion Services Staff.
The program coordinators shared with us the best part of their jobs – and their responses are:
Amy Lubawy – “The best part of my job is hearing someone say we made a difference in their lives/their family's lives and helped them when a lot of others wouldn't”
Casey Johnson – “The most rewarding part of my job is creating space for all people to experience success, joy, and belonging.”
Olivia Atkinson – “The most rewarding part of my job is creating positive impact in my community and teaching other professionals in the field ways to be more inclusive. That is what keeps me going.”
