Mordecai Historic Park 50th Anniversary Festival

Join us as we celebrate 50 years of Mordecai Historic Park as a public park! 

Hear from community partners about their work, explore the park's history since 1972, and see inside some of the historic buildings to learn about future plans for the park.

Activities will include:  

  • Special performances and presentations throughout the park by local groups
    • 12:45 and 2:30 p.m. - Seed Art Share Peter Rabbit Garden Storytime
    • 1 p.m. - MOJOAA WPA Narrative Readings
    • 2:30 p.m. - Triangle Shape Note Singers performance
  • Discounted $5 trolley tours of downtown Raleigh
    (Purchase tickets in advance on RecLink for the 12 p.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m. tours. Purchase tickets the day of for the 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. tours on a on a first-come, first-served basis.)
  • Free interactive crafts and park-wide activities
    • Hands-On History quilting craft and map activity - Make your own quilting square and learn about quilting history! Explore the park by making your own map and go on a quest throughout the park!
    • Morde-key Scavenger Hunt - Find all the keys to the park buildings and get a prize (prizes available while supplies last).
    • Mordecai Trivia Trail - Test your knowledge of the park on this short trivia walk.
  • Free entry to the Mordecai House and other historic buildings
  • Q and A session with The Ghost Guild at 3:30 pm
  • Raleigh Sister Cities exhibitions, raffles, and cultural displays
