Active Adult Program Trip - Surf City

Travel to Surf City, NC for an interesting and educational experience at the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue & Rehabilitation Center. There are a variety of exhibits with Loggerheads, Greens and Kemp’s ridley of all sizes to visit throughout the center. Stop at the Sea Turtle Sick Bay (ICU), where all the new patients spend a minimum of 6 weeks for treatment. Next, visit the little Greens, located in the therapy pool. Don’t miss the observation ramp in Sea Turtle Bay, where the turtles are well into their recovery, and the gift shop, where all purchases support all the work that is done at the center.

The remaining time will be yours to enjoy as you would like at the Surf City beach. Enjoy a late lunch on your own, shop, walk on the beach or just sit and relax. You may want to bring your swimsuit, sunscreen, towel and a chair for the beach. The Welcome Center has bathrooms & outdoor showers for use.

*Optional Excursion (on your own): Fishing on the Surf City Pier. Bring your own fishing equipment ($5.00 per person fishing ticket), or rent a pole ($10 per pole, $30 cash refundable deposit and $5 fishing ticket). Fishing time is unlimited and no fishing license is needed. The pier store has all the leaders, hooks and bait needed for sale.  Bring your own knife, towels and cooler. Excursion costs will be done on your own once at the pier.
