Enjoy the perfect combination of progressive museums and hands-on experiences, this 422-acre historic campus features four world-class museums, three antebellum homes, living history demonstrations, and the original Breakthrough Battlefield designated as a National Historic Landmark.
The group will depart from the Anne Gordon Active Adult center (1901 Spring Forest Road in Raleigh) at 7:30am. Upon arrival of the Pamplin Historical Park there will be several tours throughout the day.
Explore the National Museum of the Civil War Soldier: this museum tells the story of the 3,000,000 Americans who fought in the Civil War.
Tour the Tudor Hall Plantation: simple but elegant home, built circa 1812, has been carefully restored to its wartime appearance and furnished with period antiques.
Experience the Field Quarter: illustrate aspects of slave life and history in the antebellum South.
Relive Battlefield Tour: this walk explores the climactic Breakthrough of April 2, 1865, that occurred on the land preserved in Pamplin Historical Park.
Enjoy a catered meal of your choice (included). Leisurely roam about the grounds as you explore on-your-own before heading back to Raleigh. Return to the Anne Gordon Center around 6:30pm. Register online here.
