We would like to make changes to the regulations required for building in the floodplain, which is the area next to a creek or river that floods.
Regulation Change Process
After meeting with several stakeholders and community partners, we have developed changes that will limit development in the floodplain and reduce flooding impacts in this area. These changes primarily impact new development that is more than 0.5 acre.
Public Hearing - May 4 at 7 p.m.
The last step is to get final approval from Raleigh City Council. Council members will be reviewing the proposed changes at a public hearing on May 4. You will have the chance to ask questions and provide comments before Council makes a motion to approve or deny the proposed changes.
