Dr. Audrea Caesar, the director of the Office of Equity and Inclusion, is leading the development of an equity tool kit that will provide resources for evaluating policies and procedures to ensure they are equitable for all people of Raleigh. The City of Raleigh Equity (CORE), with representation from all departments, will be participating in the development of the toolkit, which includes an action plan.
This toolkit is for City staff, City boards and commissions, and community leaders.
The toolkit will provide:
- Raleigh’s racial equity action plan
- A racial equity lens for reviewing policies procedures and practices
- Frequently asked questions(FAQ)
- Definitions of Key Terms
Use of a racial equity tool is an important step to operationalizing equity. To transform the City, we must normalize conversations about race, operationalize new behaviors and policies, and organize to achieve racial equity. The City will begin using the racial equity tool kit by July 2021.
