RFD participated in Toys for Tots this year after being contacted by the Marine Corps League seeking partnership in collecting gifts. This year has been difficult due to COVID-19, and families are really in need of assistance given the challenging financial climate. Chief Griffin approved the idea and each fire station was given a collection box to receive gifts.
Toys for Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts at Christmas. Bringing a smile to a child's face and life is a very special Joy shared with Tar Heel Unit 733 Marine Corps League Auxiliary (MCLA); Tar Heel Detachment 733 Marine Corps League (MCL); Raleigh Fire Department and Marine Corps Reserve Center Raleigh.
