2021 is right around the corner! Raleigh Parks is giving you the unique opportunity to try something new with less commitment this new year with our special one-month session. We’ll be offering a variety of programs and classes for you to learn new skills!
Registration opens Tuesday, December 1, 2020, for this special January 2021 mini-session.
Register for any program online via RecLink using the barcode listed. Prior to registering for any program, please review the Raleigh Parks Know Before You Go. Classes and programs may be held if they are low-intensity and able to be modified to meet state and local guidelines. All programs are subject to modification or cancellation.

Jewelry: Beginning Metals - Sertoma Arts Center
Design and construct earrings, pins, pendants, charms, or other small objects and tokens in this basic metalworking class. Students will learn to saw, file, hammer, and solder wire and sheet metals to create individual projects. Students may purchase and bring in their own silver for projects. Optional jewelry kits will be available for $25. The kit will provide each student with solder, saw blades, drill bits, sandpaper and a small amount of copper to get started on projects.

Geology - Rock out! - Annie Louise Wilkerson MD Nature Preserve
Hike around the Wilkerson Nature Preserve to find the Preserve's wildest rocks and learn the stories they have to tell, about Raleigh's history of stone quarries and rare flatrock habitats. We'll also provide rock samples for you to take home for your collection.

Nature Photography for Beginners - Thomas Crowder Woodland Center
This class will introduce the techniques and principles of photography that will improve your photography skills. Learn how to maximize your camera's potential to capture beautiful photos of Lake Johnson's flora and fauna. This course is suited to the beginner or intermediate photographer. Please dress for the weather and bring your own camera.

Pottery: Handbuilding - Sertoma Arts Center
This class explores techniques including pinching, coils and slabs, and provides an overview of ceramic materials and glazing. Classes provide demonstrations and individual work time with instructor guidance. Students are encouraged to practice between class sessions and will have free access to Sertoma’s well-equipped studio. New students may not miss more than two classes and must attend the first class and the glazing class (approximately 5th week) to qualify for a studio card. Students will purchase materials at first class (approximately $42). All skill levels are welcome!
