Survey Open for New Bern Avenue Station Area Planning

We’d like your help with getting the New Bern Avenue station area plan started off on the right foot! Tell us what else you think the study should include, what the study team should focus on, and what questions we should ask the consultant teams interviewing to conduct the study. You can take our short survey online now! The survey will close on the evening on October 18.

The New Bern Avenue station area plan will take a close look at how best to take advantage of our investment in bus rapid transit (BRT). The plan will look at what makes for great, lively, walkable places. It will also focus on ensuring that affordable housing options exist within walking distance of BRT stations. Planning and Development staff are working to finalize the RFQ (request for qualifications) for this study.

An RFQ is the process for hiring a team to assist city staff with various tasks. The RFQ process sets out the tasks the city is looking for help with, and asks for respondents to provide information about their skills and previous work. In this case, the RFQ would help us hire planners to help with the planning process for New Bern Avenue station area planning.

Station area plans are part of the city's Equitable Development Around Transportation initiative. To learn more about bus rapid transit, visit our BRT home page
