Yard Waste Center Price Changes

The City of Raleigh is enhancing our Yard Waste Center and its products. The Center serves as the recycling facility for yard trimmings collected by City crews as part of our curbside yard waste collection program. In addition, the Center accepts yard waste generated within Wake County from residents and businesses for a fee.

The Center has a new pricing structure for its products, including certified organic compost and mulch. The Center will be launching organic products as well. The new pricing structure will go into effect on July 1, 2020.

In addition, the Yard Waste Center is adjusting its market position to become a wholesale supplier of compost and mulch. This will enable the Center to better serve our target audiences, which include bulk lawn and garden customers, landscapers, bulk resellers and packagers.

That means the Center won’t continue retail sales of 1 to 11 cubic yards after July 1, 2020. Also, at the Center, there is limited space to safely have a “hand-load area” that is away from any large equipment and traffic. To eliminate safety hazards created by these “hand-loading areas,” bag sales at the Yard Waste Center will no longer be offered beginning on July 1.

New Hours for Yard Waste Center

The Raleigh Yard Waste Center also has new hours. The hours of operation will be Monday - Friday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
