Mayor's Unity Day Will Celebrate African American History in Raleigh

The annual Mayor’s Unity Day Celebration aims to bring diverse elements of the community together to enhance understanding of different cultures.

The public is invited to attend this free family event of history, food, music, dance and more at on Feb. 29 at the Raleigh Convention Center.  Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.

There will be remarks from Mayor Pro-Tem Corey Branch and City Councilor Saige Martin. Entertainment will feature Raleigh’s African American history through spoken word, African drumming, and dance and a Cantata of spirituals featuring the gospel choirs of Shaw University, Saint Augustine’s University, NC State University and Southeast Raleigh High School.
