Milling operations are starting along sections of Person Street this week.
Person Street nightly detours scheduled to start Oct. 22, weather permitting.
Starting Tuesday, Oct. 22, crews are scheduled to close a section of Person Street between New Bern Avenue and Polk Street. Through traffic will be detoured Person Street to New Bern Avenue to Bloodworth Street to Boundary to Brookside to Wake Forest Road.
On Wednesday, Oct. 23, milling will take place between Oakwood Avenue and Boundary Street. This detour is Oakwood Avenue to Bloodworth Street to Boundary Street and then follow Wake Forest Road detour, Boundary to Brookside to Wake Forest Road.
Thursday work will take place between Boundary Street and Wake Forest Road. On this night, through traffic will use the current Wake Forest Road detour.
Crews will also implement a new traffic pattern while this work is underway. The right lane of Person street between New Bern Avenue and Edenton Street will be closed, and the new two-lane configuration will remain in place throughout the corridor once milling is completed.
All businesses are open regular hours during this work, and access to all residents and businesses will be available. There is no parking on Person Street between New Bern Avenue and Wake Forest Road during this work, as per no-parking signs.
Note: The Wake Forest Road detour is still in place. Wake Forest Road is closed to through Traffic between Boundary Street and Brookside Drive due to a water main and emergency wastewater line replacement.
