Construction to Start This Summer on Blount & Person Street Improvements

Pre-construction meeting July 11

Construction is scheduled to start this summer on Phase I of the the Blount Street - Person Street Improvement Project

We are improving the Blount Street, Person Street, and Wake Forest Road Corridor between Old Louisburg Road and Hoke Street. 

You are invited to the pre-construction meeting July 11 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the City of Raleigh Museum. During the meeting residents will have the opportunity to meet the contractor, view traffic control plans, and ask questions.

Construction activities for this phase of the project include:

 

  • Resurfacing from Edenton Street to Old Louisburg Road;
  • A road diet conversion for Wake Forest Road from existing 4 lanes to 3 lanes, including a center turn lane and bike lanes;
  • Conversion of Blount and Person Streets from existing 2 or 3 lanes to 2 lanes with bike lane from Wake Forest Rd. to Hoke St.; and,
  • New pavement markings and signage
