Updated Nov. 14

The design plans are completed, and construction bids are under review.

The private utility work that was scheduled to take place in late October is being rescheduled.

Next Steps

The City is scheduled to start construction in early 2020. Before we start our work, we will hold a pre-construction meeting.

The Contractor, Carolina Sunrock, continues with clearing and tree removal along the corridor. Several private utility companies are also working along the corridor to relocate their underground and overhead services.

Duke continues in relocating power poles on the north side of Tryon Road from Lake Wheeler Road to Cherry Field Dr.

We understand that construction is an inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience. Please stay alert in the work zone and drive carefully along this busy corridor.

Tryon Road clearing operations

Crews continue clearing operations along Tryon Road. There is a landscape plan that is part of this project, which includes planting over 200 trees and shrubs along the corridor.

Next Steps

Crews will begin filling and compaction operations along the south side of the corridor.

This section of Tryon Road is the last remaining section planned for widening. The City of Raleigh previously widened the section of Tryon Road to the west of this project and recently NCDOT replaced the bridge at the eastern end of the project and realigned the roadway through the Renaissance Park area.
