Tryon Road has a new traffic pattern in place between Lake Wheeler Road and Cherry Field Drive. The new traffic pattern allows crews to start work on the north side of the project in this area.

Crews continue clearing operations along Tryon Road. There is a landscape plan that is part of this project, which includes planting over 200 trees and shrubs along the corridor.

Once clearing operations are completed crews start the leveling and compaction process to make the new traffic lane.

Due to the widening of Tryon Road, the historic wall located in front of the Alpha Sigma Phi House is being moved back. Crews are taking the wall apart piece by piece and will rebuild the wall towards the end of the project.

History

This section of Tryon Road is the last remaining section planned for widening. The City of Raleigh previously widened the section of Tryon Road to the west of this project and recently NCDOT replaced the bridge at the eastern end of the project and realigned the roadway through the Renaissance Park area.
